That's right geeks. "Series 6" of the sci-fi series has been announced to be getting split down the middle for next year. This was confirmed by Moffat earlier today. Part 1 of the series will premiere in Spring 2011 and part 2 will premiere in Autumn 2011, with the 2011 Special at Christmas.
Moffat explains, "The series split is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales, and more event episodes. For kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter! Autumn! Christmas!!"
There were plans for the new series this year to be split into two because of the World Cup, but it never happened. I wonder why they are spliting the series?
Filming for "Series 6" begins next week.
