On Friday 24th 2012 a legend died. Larry Hagman, known for his famous role as evil oil baron JR Ewing in both the original and new series of "Dallas" passed away in hospital due to cancer. He lived his last hours with his family and closet friends, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray, who play his on-screen brother and ex-wife, Bobby Ewing and Sue Ellen. He died in the city he loved most...........DALLAS.
Hagman already began filming a few episodes for series two of the revived version of the classic show which ran for nearly 20 years in it's original run. Now the writers are said to be re-writing the last scene he filmed and add in his death into the show.
It's really a sad day when someone who you love watching on TV dies. I never watched the original show, but I loved the new series so much. I was looking forward to the next series, which begins in January in the US but later next year over here in the UK. Hopefully the show will go on without him. My dad always did say that Hagman would probably play JR until the day he died, he was so right.
Friends and co-stars took to Twitter and other online sites and news reporters to took about the global star. Close friend, Patrick Duffy, told newspapers,
"MY friend is taking a break."
Victoria Prinicpal, who played Pam Ewing in the old series said,
"He is unforgettable, and irreplaceable, to millions of fans around the world, and in the hearts of each of us, who was lucky enough to know and love him,"
And finally, classic "Dallas" director Michael Preece said,
"Larry did direct a lot of episodes, and you'd stage a scene, they would just stage it for you, he was terrific. And you try to get most of his work before lunch, because he was better in the morning - but he was great to be around, it was like a family."
