First I'd like to say that there is no script for the possible third film. All there saying is that they want to do a third film. Now a few months back in a French mag, David Duchovny, who plays Mulder in the franchise, said that a script is half way complete. He was talking BULLSHITE!
Now three months later with all three of the important people together in an interview, David Duchovny, Chris Carter and Gillian Anderson have announced that they want a third film, but there ain't no script and the idea hasn't even been greenlighted yet by Fox. Basically there's no point in getting all excitied yet until Fox announce a big "YES!".
No way FOX is going to greenlight a third movie, given that the last movie was a complete failure at the box office, and the only people who want to see a third X-Files are the hardcore fans. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are aging TV actors who have no box office appeal, and Chris Carter has lost his magic of making a good X-Files movie. The next movie will most likely be a reboot.
