So Zack Snyder may not be getting the chance to direct the newly announced "Star Wars-Episode VII", but he may though be getting the chance to direct a new live-action spin-off film instead. Sources are saying that Snyder is in talks with Disney/LucasFilm to direct a spin-off based on the classic "Seven Samurai" film. "Seven Samurai" is a Japanese film which was made back in the 1950's, which was eventually remade in the US and was named "The Magnificent Seven", which is also getting a remake by MGM and starring Tom Cruise. That remakes years off from even having a script so we'll see how that pans out first. This though does seem pretty positive. Snyder has also been seen dinning with Disney execs and Kathleen Kennedy. Maybe he IS directing "Episode VII", but really I thin this'll be more his thing. Don't ask why though.
Some other sources are saying that it could be a "Forces Unleashed" type film spin-off with some "Seven Samurai" goodness added to it too. Either way I'm just happy that this guy could be onboard to be quite honest. I thought "Watchmen" was amazing and "Man Of Steel" looks breathtaking and has already had positive reactions to the footage. This could work well for him!
