Is Doctor Strange Taking Over From Iron Man As Lead In Further "Avengers" Sequels?

After it was confirmed that Robert Downey Jr was returning to the role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man in "Avengers 2" and "Avnegers 3", an insider close to the MCU has stated that Marvel are getting Doctor Steven Strange set up to be, well basically "being groomed to be the next Iron Man".
Seeing as Robert Downey Jr really can't go on forever, looks like Marvel are already possibly making BIG plans to not recast him, but just move on without the character and have Doctor Strange lead the Avengers, which again is rumoured to feature the next gen of them, which makes total sense in my eyes.
After this news, it's assumed that Strange WILL be making an appearance in "Avengers 3" to lead him into his own movie or to set up for "Avengers 4" and the next gen of phases.

Robert Downey Jr Is Back As Tony Stark In "Avengers" Sequels!

It's a proud day when I can report that the great Robert Downey Jr will indeed be returning to the role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man in Joss Whedon's "Avengers" sequels. That's right, not only has he signed on for "Avengers 2", but he's also signed on to "Avengers 3" too.......AMAZING!!! The only downer is that in this contract, there's no sign of an "Iron Man 4" sadly, but hey ho, this is good enough.
I personally think that at some point in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark/Iron Man will probably take a back seat and let the next generation of Avengers come in and take over. As much as I love Downey Jr as Tony Stark, he really really can't stay in the role forever.

Robert Downey Jr Back For "Avengers" Sequels?

After seeing "IRON MAN 3", fans would think that Robert Downey Jr is done with the character of Tony Stark and seeing as Downey Jr confirmed it himself that his contract was over, fans thought that it was over for good.
Now, RDJ has reportedly entered negotiations to star in "Avengers 2" and "Avengers 3", but not for "IRON MAN 4". I think this is a great move to make by totally finishing off the stand-alone "IRON MAN" films and just have RDJ continue on as Tony Stark in "Avengers" films only.

Robert Downey Jr Might Return For New "IRON MAN" Trilogy!

FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN "IRON MAN 3" YET............DON'T READ THIS POST!!!
So yeah, Robert Downey Jr has mentioned that he would play Tony Stark for as long as possible, but recently he's spoken out about the chances of that actually being possible in reality. He got slightly injured during the filming of the third film in the trilogy and it's making him re-think his game plan for the next "IRON MAN" and "Avenger" films.
His contract has finished and nothing has been signed for him to return as the much loved Tony Stark in "Avengers 2", even though he'll sign it once the world release of "IRON MAN 3" is done with. Anyway, Downey Jr has said that he's thinking about doing this role for about three more years, which would make him 50 years old and in that three years, the only film in the MCU that he would be definitely starring in would be "Avengers 2"..........so no fourth "IRON MAN" film then?!
Well after seeing "IRON MAN 3", which by the way, is just the bomb, with yeah, some iffy moments but all in......FUCKING AWESOME!!!! I'm going to review it with in the next week or so, but yeah, he makes a new suit that he can use and not even be in it which could come in handy for future "IRON MAN" and "Avengers" films. I think that there shouldn't be a fourth, fifth and sixth film because the way the third film ended, it ended everything in the stand-alone films, much like "The Dark Knight" trilogy. It did though say at the end that Tony Stark will return. This could either be for another film or if it just means Tony Stark will just stay in the "Avengers" films now.
Now, during a press conference, one of the guys over at ComicBookMovie.com got a chance to ask Robert a question about a possible fourth, fifth and sixth "IRON MAN" films and this is what he said,
Here's what the guy from ComicBookMovie.com said to Tony Stark himself,

Robert. There is a definite "finality" with this movie, but you know you're never going to get rid of this character, you're too perfect for it. So my question is, how go the negotiations for Iron Man 4, 5 and 6?

And here's what Robert Downey Jr said back to him,

I'm not at liberty to discuss that. I do want to say that our stunt coordinator came to me at one point and said, "You see how Don just rolled into the room and fired off all those shots, the guys fell and he went just exactly where he was supposed to go?" I said, "Yeah, what are you getting at?" And he goes, "Nuthin".

The future, as usual is uncertain, and I think the great thing is that we never could've known what and who was gonna come togther for the third Iron Man, and usually the third of anything struggles to even meet the first two let alone the first one. In all earnestness, things are very much in flux right now. Marvel has their plans, and we're all living and growing, and we'll see what happens.

More & More Images From "The Avengers" Roll In!

"Iron Man" Will Continue The Way James Bond Does!

Marvel producer Kevin Feige was discussing what would happen to the "Iron Man" character and franchise once the awesome Robert Downey Jr quits. He basically said that the franchise will not end there and get rebooted. It will simply just continue like the way James Bond does. One actor leaves, and another steps in to take over the role.
Now I like that idea of doing that, rather than just reboot and start all over again with the exact same back story. Just continue on in the same universe until fans get bored and demand a reboot! The same thing will probably happen to Robert Downey Jr's "Sherlock Holmes". He did comment before the release of the second film that when he leaves, other actors will just continue on with the film series. Pick up where Downey Jr left off. The same is going with Batman. Next year they're slithy rebooting it for the "Justice League" film, but still kind of keeping it in Chris Nolan's universe, but with a new actor......SIMPLES!!!

UPDATE: Robert Downey Jr was speaking to an MTV reporter and gave fans some of his thoughts on someone taking over his role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the future:
"I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes. I wonder who's playing Tony Stark next. Is it you? Is that what you're here to tell me? I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while. As usual in my book, it's all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to. If they keep doing that, maybe I'll keep showing up."

"IRON MAN 3" Gets New Writer!

British script writer, Drew Pearce has signed on to write the script for "IRON MAN 3". It was originally planned that Shane Black would write the films script, as well as direct it.
Marvel have hinted that the new film will be a reboot to the last two films, even though Robert Downey Jr is returning as the man in the iron suit.
